Project TitleMonoclonal Antibody 3D8
Track Code1989-008
Short Description

A murine monoclonal antibody (mAb) directed against the human CD13 antigen on myeloid cells.

Abstract

3D8 appears to be myeloid restricted, reacting with myeloid cell lines, peripheral blood monocytes, and macrophages of the reticuloendothelial system and lung. However, this antibody also reacts with Langerhans' cells of the skin and thymus. Potential uses for mAb 3D8 include phenotyping of normal and leukemic myeloid cells by immunocytochemistry and/or flow cytometry. The antibody may also be used for research studies involving cell surface labeling of monocytes, macrophages and Langerhans cells. This monoclonal antibody, termed "3D8" has the following characteristics: Specificity: The monoclonal recognizes the human CD13 cell surface protein (also known as aminopeptidase N) on myeloid cells. Isotype: mouse IgG2a Classification: Anti-CD13 cluster of differentiation as assigned by the Fourth International Conference on Leukocyte Differentiation Antigens, February 1989. Reactivity: Monoclonal antibody 3D8 recognizes the human CD13 antigen in immunocytochemical studies utilizing cytospin preparations and frozen tissue sections of normal and leukemic myeloid cells and Langerhans cells. The antibody has also been used to phenotype myeloid cells by flow cytometry.
